Shingles Vaccination Programme 2026-2027
Purpose and outline
The shingles immunocompetent cohort is expanded to include those aged 80 years and over from 1st April 2027 and a new indicator has been added accordingly.
A new indicator has been added to capture second doses of immunocompetent patients who have had their first dose as part of the national programme.
The fourth year of the 65 and over immunocompetent cohort expansion will be implemented from September 2026. Individuals turning 65 years from 1 September
2026 will be eligible for the 2-dose Shingrix® vaccination, together with those who were previously eligible and have not yet been vaccinated who are turning either 66, 67 or 68.
