NHS England has announced an amendment to the published GMS Statement of Financial Entitlements which introduces a number of changes into the practice level GP reimbursement scheme.

  • GP practices can make claims for GP locums under the scheme from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027
  • GP practices are able to transfer all, or part, of their funding entitlement to any other GP practice
  • GP practices can make claims for new GPs employed by GP practices between 24 February 2026 and 31 March 2027
  • GP practices are able to claim a higher hourly rate for additional GP sessions agreed with existing salaried GPs between 30 April 2026 and 24 June 2026

Further information on the changes is included in the updated Supplementary information to support changes to the 2026/27 GP Contract.

This amendment also includes the changes to support the introduction of improvement thresholds into QOF childhood immunisation indicators, as set out within the 2026/27 QOF Guidance.
